London, Feb 26 (NationPress) Brentford's assistant coach Justin Cochrane has officially joined Thomas Tuchel’s coaching staff for the England senior men's national team. He will maintain his current position with the first team, a role he has embraced since July 2022, effectively juggling both responsibilities.
“It’s a privilege to be called upon to contribute to the senior men’s national team. This is a thrilling opportunity for me, and I am profoundly thankful to Brentford for allowing me to undertake this role,” said Cochrane.
“I am eager to collaborate with the players, connect with the staff, and step onto the pitch at Wembley. Most importantly, I look forward to helping this exceptionally talented group fulfill its ambitions,” Cochrane expressed when joining the national team.
After a successful 13-year playing career, Cochrane began his coaching journey at the elite level by joining Tottenham Hotspur’s academy in 2009. His initial position as the head coach for the under-11s led to his involvement with the U12s, U14s, U16s, and eventually the U23s during a nine-year tenure in north London.
Subsequently, Cochrane dedicated three years to the FA while completing his UEFA Pro Licence. He served as the head coach for the under-17s during the 2020/21 season, having previously worked with the same cohort for two years, albeit without competitive matches due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
In June 2021, following a brief stint with AFC Wimbledon’s first-team coaching staff in League One, Cochrane took on the role of head of player development and coaching at Manchester United.
Cochrane spent one year with the Red Devils, primarily working with players from under-17 to under-23 levels, culminating in a season that saw United lift the FA Youth Cup.
