New Delhi, April 13 (NationPress) The Delhi Capitals have emerged victorious in the toss and have chosen to bowl first against the Mumbai Indians in match 29 of IPL 2025, held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium this Sunday. As the current table leaders, DC remains the only unbeaten team in the tournament and is set to play their first match of the season in New Delhi.
Following the toss, DC's skipper Axar Patel received enthusiastic applause from the home crowd, announcing that Faf du Plessis is sidelined due to injury. The team will determine their impact player during the match. Du Plessis, who serves as DC's vice-captain, had also missed their previous game against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) due to fitness concerns.
“We are performing well while chasing, and this is our first match here this season, so we are uncertain about how the pitch will behave. I advise against relying too heavily on past statistics. The key challenge is to stick to our strategy and remain courageous even when facing big shots,” he shared.
Hardik Pandya, the captain of the ninth-placed MI, confirmed that their playing eleven remains unchanged. “We are addressing our mistakes. This team has ample experience. We are close to delivering a strong performance. We aim to avoid panic; it doesn’t assist us. Our margin for error is slim, but we hope for a successful outing tonight,” he commented.
Today’s match will take place on the center pitch of the venue, with square boundaries measuring 60m and 66m, and the straight boundary at 72m. Pitch analysts Murali Kartik and Danny Morrison noted that the pitch exhibits significant cracks, suggesting it may not perform as flatly as it did in last year’s matches.
