Vadodara, Feb 5 (NationPress) Captain Jemimah Rodrigues delivered a stellar performance, scoring 57 runs off 37 balls as the Delhi Capitals set an impressive total of 203/4 in their 20 overs against Royal Challengers Bengaluru during the final of the 2026 Women’s Premier League (WPL) at the BCA Stadium in Kotambi, Vadodara, on Thursday.

After being asked to bat first, DC achieved the highest score ever recorded in a WPL final as well as the best total in Vadodara. Following a solid start from Lizelle Lee and Shafali Verma, Jemimah took over with a dazzling display of shot-making, hitting eight boundaries with exceptional timing and placement.

Laura Wolvaardt contributed significantly with a brisk 44 runs off 25 balls, accelerating towards the end, while Chinelle Henry added a quickfire 35 runs off just 15 balls, helping Delhi surpass the 200-run milestone. Chinelle’s explosive finish was critical, as DC amassed 55 runs in the last four overs, positioning themselves favorably for their first WPL title.

For RCB, Lauren Bell stood out with a commendable bowling performance, conceding only 19 runs in four overs, but the remaining bowlers struggled to contain runs, giving away scoring opportunities consistently. Although RCB managed a brief resurgence after Jemimah was dismissed in the 16th over, Chinelle’s late innings thwarted their comeback efforts.

DC started cautiously, scoring only nine runs in the first three overs, but Lizelle broke the shackles by hitting two sixes off Sayali Satghare, setting the stage for one of their finest batting displays in the tournament. Meanwhile, Shafali Verma scored a quickfire 20 before being caught out.

Lizelle continued her aggressive play, striking three fours and a six in the seventh over, before being dismissed by Nadine de Klerk for 37. Jemimah entered and quickly found her rhythm, hitting boundaries with ease. As Laura settled in, they kept the scoreboard moving.

The 12th over was crucial, with Jemimah showcasing her talent by scoring three boundaries off Shreyanka, and slicing fiercely off Radha Yadav. She reached her half-century in the 15th over but was caught for 57 by a fielder at deep square leg.

Laura and Chinelle then unleashed a fierce assault in the closing overs. Chinelle particularly dominated Nadine de Klerk in the 18th over, scoring 24 runs off four boundaries and a six. The duo concluded their innings with 15 runs off Sayali's final over, with Laura getting run out while attempting a risky second run, leaving RCB with a daunting chase ahead.
