His remarkable performance put a stop to English opener Phil Salt’s aggressive start by stumping him off Noor Ahmed in the fifth over of Match 8 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium here on Friday.
The Royal Challengers Bengaluru faced off against Chennai Super Kings in the eighth match of the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League. Salt, who was batting at 32 off 15 balls, couldn’t connect with a cover drive on a length ball that angled away, but his foot was on the line. A review confirmed that the Englishman’s toe was mere millimeters above the ground, ending his explosive innings.
During his brief time at the crease, Salt had hit five boundaries and a six, becoming increasingly dangerous. His efforts helped RCB surpass fifty runs in the sixth over, but Dhoni’s brilliant stumping halted their momentum.
