Miami, March 27 (NationPress) Novak Djokovic and Sebastian Korda’s quarter-final match at the Miami Open, originally set for late Wednesday night (IST), has been moved to early Friday morning (IST).
The tournament organizers announced, "Novak Djokovic and Sebastian Korda’s quarter-final clash at the Miami Open has been postponed until Thursday (local time)".
As per ATP regulations that prevent matches from starting after 11 p.m. (local time), the encounter between Djokovic and Korda will occur as the third match following the quarterfinals, which commence at 1 p.m. local time (10:30 p.m. IST) on Thursday.
The rescheduled match is now set to begin at 1:40 a.m. (IST) on Friday.
At 37, Djokovic is just three wins away from clinching a record-breaking seventh Miami trophy. Capturing the title at this hard-court event for the first time since his victory at Crandon Park in 2016 would also signify Djokovic’s 100th tour-level title. Korda, aged 24, is striving for his third Masters 1000 semi-final.
In other news, Arthur Fils made a remarkable comeback from a set down, overcoming back issues to defeat the top seed Alexander Zverev with a score of 3-6, 6-3, 6-4, securing his place in the quarterfinals of the Miami Open, part of the hard-court ATP Masters 1000 series.
The 20-year-old French player outlasted World No. 2 Zverev with his impactful shots, marking the most significant victory of his career based on ATP Ranking.
Fils also reached the quarterfinals at the Paribas Open in Indian Wells earlier this month, becoming only the third Frenchman to achieve the last eight in both 'Sunshine Double' events in a single year, following Yannick Noah (1986-87, 1989) and Gael Monfils (2016).
He is set to face Jakub Mensik in the quarterfinals.
