New Delhi, April 27 (NationPress) Faf du Plessis returns to the lineup for Delhi Capitals (DC), while England's batting all-rounder Jacob Bethell is set to make his debut in the IPL. This comes as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) won the toss and opted to bowl first in match 46 of the ongoing tournament at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday.
The winner of this match, featuring the second-placed DC and third-ranked RCB, will take the lead in the points table, surpassing Gujarat Titans (GT). In their last face-off, KL Rahul scored an unbeaten 93, leading DC to a remarkable six-wicket victory over RCB at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 10.
Upon winning the toss, RCB captain Rajat Patidar announced that Bethell is stepping in for his compatriot Phil Salt, who is unwell. “The wicket appears to be excellent for batting, and I don't anticipate much change. We prefer chasing, and we aim to maintain our good performance at home. We're continuously trying to improve with each match,” he stated.
Du Plessis is making a comeback after missing the last four games due to a groin injury. Captain Axar Patel expressed a desire to bat first had he won the toss, mentioning that the Impact Player will be determined accordingly, with Ashutosh Sharma designated as an impact substitute. “In our last game against RR, there was no dew, but there was some during the match against Mumbai,” he added.
Today’s match is set to take place on pitch number four at the stadium, previously used in DC's match against Mumbai Indians (MI) on April 13, where DC won by 12 runs. The pitch report indicated a very dry surface with no live grass. The square boundaries measure 58m and 66m, while the straight boundary is 71m.
