Kolkata, July 7 (NationPress) East Bengal FC is eager to regain its momentum in the Calcutta Football League (CFL) Premier Division 2025 as they prepare to challenge BSS Sporting in a Group ‘A’ showdown at Barrackpore's Bibhutibhushan Stadium this Tuesday afternoon.
After an inconsistent start to the season, EEB aims to deliver a strong performance against a resilient BSS Sporting squad. The Red & Golds launched their CFL 2025 journey with an impressive 7-1 triumph over Measurers Club at the Naihati Bankimanjali Stadium on June 27, with contributions from Manotos Maji, Sayan Banerjee, Vanlalpeka Guite, Tanmay Das, Jesin TK (2), and Suman Dey.
However, their winning streak was interrupted in their subsequent match at the same location, where they were held to a 1-1 stalemate against a 10-man Suruchi Sangha team, despite taking the lead in first-half stoppage time through Vanlalpeka Guite and creating numerous opportunities.
Currently, East Bengal is positioned third in Group A with four points from two matches. In contrast, BSS Sporting sits seventh in the group with three points, having won their opening game 1-0 against Kalighat MS but then falling 2-3 to George Telegraph.
The two teams previously met in July 2023 in the CFL Premier Division, ending in a 1-1 draw.
Discussing the upcoming match, EEB B Team Head Coach Bino George expressed the need to correct their previous errors.
“We should not have allowed a goal after taking the lead against Suruchi Sangha in our last game. We’ve scrutinized our shortcomings and will work to amend them in tomorrow's match,” Bino stated.
