Doha (Qatar), Sep 16 (NationPress) Chennai siblings Geoffrey and Johann Emmanuel had an outstanding weekend, achieving a total of three podium finishes across two different categories of the Qatar 2W Championship at the renowned Losail International Circuit.
Geoffrey, 20, made his debut in the SuperSport 600 class of the QSTK Championship, clinching third place in both races. Meanwhile, his younger brother Johann, 19, marked his entry into the Superstock 600cc championship with a remarkable victory in Race-2, despite enduring a 200Kmph crash in Race-1.
For Johann, this weekend tested his resilience. In Race 1, he established a lead of over 10 seconds, approaching riders from a higher class when his bike unexpectedly slipped into a false neutral at over 200 km/h. The sudden lockup of the rear wheel resulted in a crash at the circuit's fastest section, ending what was an impressive performance.
Unfazed, Johann switched to another bike for Race 2. Although he couldn't push to the maximum, he exhibited remarkable composure and racing strategy to win with a substantial 20-second lead.
Reflecting on his experience, Johann stated, “Looking back at the grid for the first time gave me goosebumps. Qualifying fourth on my debut was incredible. Although I couldn't secure both wins, bouncing back to win Race 2 means a lot to me.”
Geoffrey Emmanuel, the first Indian rider to participate in the FIM JuniorGP World Championship, faced a tough battle for his double podium in the SuperSport 600 class. In Race-1, he started from P3 but fell back several positions early on. Displaying resilience and determination, he worked his way through the pack with strategic overtakes to finish third.
In Race 2, Geoffrey had a stronger start, maintaining his position in the early laps. Although he lost some speed in the latter part of the race, he managed to secure another third-place finish, emphasizing his consistency throughout the event.
“Competing in the SuperSport 600 class for the first time was an amazing experience,” Geoffrey remarked. “I learned a lot during both races and was pleased to recover in Race 1. There’s still much to improve, but this is only the beginning.”
