London, Jan 24 (NationPress) The England football squad is poised to make Kansas City its training hub during the FIFA World Cup 2026. The Football Association (FA) has officially requested that the governing body designate Swope Soccer Village as the team's primary training location for the tournament.

Swope Soccer Village, a cutting-edge facility in Missouri, has emerged as England's top choice for daily training. Although FIFA has yet to officially confirm the final base camps for participating nations, reports from the BBC suggest that England is likely to secure this favourable venue.

England's team has been placed in Group L and will compete in group-stage matches across various venues in the United States. Their schedule includes a match against Croatia in Arlington, Texas, on June 17, followed by encounters with Ghana in Foxborough near Boston on June 23, and Panama in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on June 27. The team plans to travel to each match venue and return to Kansas City after every game during the group stage.

Head coach Thomas Tuchel, who has taken the helm to lead England toward global triumph, will manage the logistical challenges of the team's campaign. However, it remains uncertain if England will continue to operate from Missouri if they progress to the knockout rounds, as travel demands may necessitate a shift in their base.

Prior to their time in Kansas City, England will conduct a pre-tournament training camp in Florida. This camp will feature two warm-up matches to help the squad acclimatize to local conditions and climate ahead of the expanded 48-team World Cup, co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The tournament will kick off on June 11, with the final slated for July 19.

Entering the 2026 World Cup, England carries a proud yet unfulfilled legacy on the global stage. Having won the tournament in 1966 on home soil, they have faced decades of near misses. Their most recent strong showing came in 2018 when they finished fourth in Russia, with quarterfinal exits in 2006, 2010, and 2022.

England also reached the semifinals of Euro 2020 and the final of Euro 2024, highlighting their position as consistent contenders, yet they continue to face challenges in the latter stages of tournaments.
