What Excites Indian Athletes About the Shooting League of India?

New Delhi, June 5 (NationPress) The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) revealed the emblem for the first-ever Shooting League of India (SLI) at the Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range on Thursday afternoon. Numerous Indian athletes, currently training for the 2025 ISSF World Cup in Munich, were present at the unveiling and shared their enthusiasm about the league's inaugural season.

Among those attending were Paris Olympic medallists Swapnil Kusale and Sarabjot Singh, as well as several prominent Indian athletes such as Arjun Babuta, Sandeep Singh, Elavenil Valarivan, Ramita, Sift Kaur Samra, Anjum Moudgil, Varun Tomar, Arjun Singh Cheema, Chain Singh, Kiran Ankush Jadhav, Ashi Chouksey, Shriyanka Sadangi, Suruchi, Palak, Simranpreet Kaur Brar, Akhil Sheoran, Sainyam, Nischal, and Rahi Jeevan Sarnobat.

During the event, the 50m rifle 3 positions world record holder Sift Kaur Samra remarked that the forthcoming league serves as a significant morale boost for the athletes who will compete in Munich from June 8 to June 15.

"We are grateful to NRAI for including us in the logo unveiling and allowing us to witness the beginning of this exciting journey. The buzz surrounding shooting sports in India is growing with the league, and it's a tremendous motivational factor ahead of the ISSF World Cup," the 24-year-old stated.

Designed by the acclaimed sports media and marketing agency Sportwalk, the logo showcases a vibrant array of colors that reflect the competitive spirit of the sport and its rich heritage.

2022 Asian Games medallist Ashi Chouksey applauded the logo's dynamic design, highlighting how the bold colors symbolize the strength of the Indian sports community.

"We are all thrilled to see the Shooting League of India launch with this striking logo. The bold colors serve as a testament to the resilience and character of Indian athletes. It is now our responsibility to embody the message conveyed by this remarkable symbol," Chouksey expressed.

Veteran rifle shooter Shriyanka Sadangi added that the logo communicates the aspirations of the national federation associated with the league. "With India’s success in the recent Olympic Games in Paris, interest in shooting sports is surging both in the country and globally. The league can further this success and elevate the sport's appeal. The logo possesses a universal charm with its familiar yet vivid colors and patterns, enhancing its accessibility to the public."

The inaugural season of the SLI is scheduled between November 20 and December 2. The tournament will feature mixed team events in various categories: pistol (10m, 25m), rifle (10m, 50m 3 positions), and shotgun (Trap & Skeet), as determined by the NRAI Technical Committee.

Approximately six to eight teams will participate, divided into two pools during the league stage. Selected players will be categorized into four tiers - Elite Champions, World Elite, National Champions, and Junior & Youth Championships - ensuring a mix of seasoned and emerging talents.
