New Delhi, June 25 (NationPress) The debut of the Shooting League of India (SLI), initiated by the NRAI, is generating significant buzz globally. As anticipation rises, fans and competitors alike are keen to see how this league will transform the landscape of shooting sports.
Over 400 athletes from countries including India, Kazakhstan, Russia, Iran, Hungary, Croatia, Azerbaijan, the United Kingdom, Australia, Grenada, Italy, Austria, Serbia, the USA, Spain, Thailand, Germany, the Czech Republic, Norway, San Marino, and Romania have already signed up, with numbers steadily climbing.
The registration remains open until mid-July.
NRAI president Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We are genuinely thrilled with the incredible response and the volume of registrations we have garnered. It’s a strong affirmation of our vision for the Shooting League of India. Our objective has always been to establish a world-class platform that honors talent, encourages healthy rivalry, and motivates the upcoming generation of shooters.”
The inaugural season of the SLI is scheduled to run from November 20 to December 2 and will showcase mixed team events across various disciplines: pistol (10m, 25m), rifle (10m, 50m 3 positions), and shotgun (Trap & Skeet), as laid out by the NRAI Technical Committee.
A minimum of 6 teams will compete, organized into two pools during the league phase. Participants will be categorized into four tiers: Elite Champions, World Elite, National Champions, and Junior & Youth Champions, ensuring a competitive blend of seasoned athletes and emerging talent.
The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) had unveiled its plans to launch the Shooting League of India in November last year, aiming to further elevate the sport in the nation, especially after recent achievements at the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games.
