Hyderabad, Aug 2 (NationPress) India’s inaugural FIFA Talent Academy for girls has officially opened its doors in Hyderabad, following the signing of a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the All India Football Federation (AIFF) and the Government of Telangana during the first Telangana Sports Conclave at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre.
This initiative is a crucial element of FIFA’s Talent Development Scheme (TDS), aimed at offering elite training to promising footballers identified from across the nation, thereby reinforcing India’s dedication to inclusive and structured grassroots growth.
Situated at the Gachibowli Stadium Complex, the academy will provide year-round high-performance training alongside residential facilities, education, medical care, nutrition, and mental wellness for 60 elite athletes – comprising 30 boys (U14) and 30 girls (U16), including 10 players from Telangana in each category.
AIFF President Kalyan Chaubey stated, "The establishment of India’s first FIFA Talent Academy for girls and the second for boys is a pivotal moment in our quest for equitable football development. Our partnership with the Government of Telangana under FIFA’s global Talent Development Scheme showcases our united commitment to discovering, nurturing, and empowering young talent, particularly girls, nationwide. This academy is set to not only cultivate elite athletes but also inspire a generation of footballers who aspire to represent India at the highest levels. Today marks a proud milestone for Indian football and a significant advancement towards our aim of qualifying for the U17 men’s and women’s FIFA World Cups."
The Chief Minister of Telangana remarked, "This academy is a transformative opportunity for girls in football. It is not only the first of its kind in India but also one of the few globally under FIFA’s Talent Development Scheme. Young talents, especially girls, from Telangana and beyond will now have access to elite infrastructure, education, and a clear pathway to the national and international stage."
Strategic Collaboration and National Vision:
AIFF will spearhead the operations, technical framework, talent scouting, and training curriculum in collaboration with FIFA.
The Sports Authority of Telangana (SATG) will manage infrastructure, logistics, education, financial and welfare support.
This initiative is in alignment with:
FIFA’s global TDS mandate: Provide every talent with a chance.
AIFF’s Vision 2047: Transform India into a leading football nation.
Telangana’s Sports Policy 2025: Establish Hyderabad as a national sports hub.
