New Delhi, March 27 (NationPress) In anticipation of the match between the five-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in IPL 2025, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad expressed his eagerness for the showdown, particularly highlighting the impact of the iconic player Virat Kohli.

Historically, in the 33 encounters between these two teams, CSK has triumphed 21 times while RCB has secured victory on 11 occasions. Notably, RCB has managed to defeat CSK only once at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, and that was back in the inaugural season of 2008.

“They have performed remarkably well each year. Whenever Virat Kohli is part of the opposite team, it’s always a match to anticipate. He has consistently showcased his skills for RCB and the national team over the years. This match, after our clash with the Mumbai Indians, is one we eagerly await,” Gaikwad shared with JioStar on Thursday.

CSK enters this match following a four-wicket victory against fellow five-time champions Mumbai Indians at Chepauk, where Gaikwad contributed with a dynamic 53 runs off just 26 balls as a number three batter.

On the other hand, RCB comes into this match after a convincing seven-wicket win against the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens, where Kohli scored an impressive unbeaten 59 off 36 deliveries. Gaikwad mentioned that he congratulated Rajat Patidar after he was appointed the new RCB captain ahead of IPL 2025.

“I’m really excited about facing RCB, especially with Rajat as the new captain. As soon as they announced Rajat’s captaincy, I reached out to him and wished him the best. We’ve been friends for a long time and know each other very well, and RCB has consistently been one of the strongest teams,” he concluded.
