Chennai, March 27 (NationPress) Dinesh Karthik, the batting coach and mentor of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), stated that the atmosphere within the team is filled with excitement and confidence in their skills as they prepare for a crucial showdown against Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.

RCB's history at Chepauk has seen them secure victory over CSK just once since the tournament's inception in 2008. The upcoming match presents them with a prime opportunity to triumph at the fortress of the five-time IPL champions. Led by Rajat Patidar, the team arrives at this encounter following a dominant seven-wicket victory over the defending champions, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens.

"I genuinely believe that the way we are organizing our team, our style of play, and our intentions make this game thrilling for us. As a unit, we are highly enthusiastic and confident in our capabilities," Karthik remarked during the pre-match press conference on Thursday.

"In our initial matches, we have showcased glimpses of our potential, and our objective is to consistently elevate our performance, irrespective of the venue. Although we are still in the early stages of the tournament, this is a new group of players eager to make their mark," he added.

A crucial factor in Friday's match will be how players like Patidar and Virat Kohli handle the CSK spin trio of Noor Ahmad, Ravindra Jadeja, and Ravichandran Ashwin. Kohli scored an unbeaten 59 in their victory over KKR, and Karthik referred to the iconic batsman as a unique talent who continually seeks to enhance his skills.

"He is coming off a strong performance in the Champions Trophy. He has recently performed well against spin, particularly in white-ball formats. I don't want to delve too deeply into statistics, but if memory serves, he scored vital runs in the World Cup finals," Karthik noted.

"Moreover, in the Champions Trophy, he was the second-highest run-scorer, which is significant given how favorable the conditions were for spinners in Dubai. I believe he is currently batting as well as he ever has," he added.

"Just today, as I stepped out, he was eager to refine one more shot. This drive to improve illustrates his hunger for growth. He is a remarkable player, and at this moment, I see him batting with a confidence and skill level unmatched in his IPL career," he stated.

This season is Karthik's first experience in a coaching role after being an IPL player from 2008 to 2024. "Being part of this setup as a mentor, observing the players during practice, and witnessing their approach has made it a thrilling experience for me personally. Two strong teams are going to battle it out, and I am eagerly anticipating the start of the match," he concluded.
