The final over produced a dramatic free hit, a six, and a boundary — yet it was not enough for Shernis, as Ghariyals held their nerve to seal a historic win.

Ghariyals Build a Competitive Total

Batting first, Chambal Ghariyals posted 146/4 in their 20 overs, anchored by a fluent half-century from opener Kanishka Thakur. Thakur and Jincy George set the platform with a 51-run opening stand in 7.1 overs before George departed for 15 off 19 balls.

Thakur then combined with Rahila Firdous for a 33-run partnership to steady the innings. Thakur finished with a swift 50 off 37 balls, while Firdous contributed a measured 29 off 29 balls through the middle overs. Vaishnavi Singh provided late impetus with an unbeaten 26 off 20 balls, helping Ghariyals set a challenging target.

Shernis Make a Fight of the Chase

Gwalior Shernis were rocked early when Aashna Patidar was dismissed for 10 off 16 balls. Captain Nuzhat Parween and Ishana Swami steadied the chase with a crucial 64-run partnership before Dhani Buchade broke through, removing Ishana for 29 off 22 balls after a miscue.

Soumya Tiwari fell cheaply for 4 off 5 balls, leaving the Shernis at 108/3 after 16 overs and needing 39 runs from the final four overs — a steep ask that kept mounting as Ghariyals' bowlers tightened their lines.

Last-Over Drama Seals the Title

Gwalior Shernis entered the final over requiring 20 runs. Parween struck a boundary off the first ball to keep hopes alive, but two successive dot balls shifted the momentum sharply — the Shernis now needed 16 from three deliveries.

On the penultimate ball, Parween cleared the ropes for a six, but the delivery was called a no-ball, reducing the requirement to 7 runs off the final legal ball. Parween hit a boundary off the last delivery, but the 4 runs fell short. Gwalior Shernis finished on 144/5, two runs adrift, handing Chambal Ghariyals their first-ever MPL title.
