Chennai, April 14 (NationPress) Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) all-rounder Cameron Green acknowledged that the team is still on the hunt for momentum in IPL 2026, while remaining hopeful for a positive change ahead of their match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Joining KKR with significant anticipation following a lucrative Rs 25.20 crore contract, Green has had a slow start with the bat, scoring 18, 2, 4, and an unbeaten 32 across four matches. Following recommendations from Cricket Australia to be cautious during his recovery, his bowling has been slowly reintroduced, with the all-rounder bowling two overs in the last match against Lucknow Super Giants.

Reflecting on his experience with a new team after playing for Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Green emphasized the supportive atmosphere within the KKR camp, despite the team's struggles on the field.

“It’s fantastic. Clearly, the results haven’t favored us this year. We understand it’s a lengthy tournament, and we need to secure some wins soon. However, off the field, the environment has been excellent. The support staff and players are all energized, which should help us moving forward,” he remarked to broadcasters ahead of the CSK vs KKR match.

Coming off a close loss in their last game, Green pointed out that the team remains committed to maintaining a positive outlook and continuing with effective processes.

“We discussed as a team that we’re executing many things correctly. The IPL season can be unpredictable, and a strong performance can turn things around for any team. We hope to be on the winning side next time,” he stated.

Regarding his capabilities with the ball, Green expressed confidence in his fitness and indicated that he might have a larger role in the upcoming match, stating, “My body feels great. Of course, there's no substitute for match practice. I’m optimistic I can bowl four overs in this game, which is encouraging.”

The Australian player also shared insights on the changing batting dynamics in the tournament, noting a subtle variation compared to previous high-scoring seasons.

“I wasn’t involved last year. But reflecting on two years ago, teams consistently scored around 270. It’s possible there are some nerves at the start of the competition, leading to lower scores, but we’ll see how it unfolds,” he added.
