Ahmedabad, April 10 (NationPress) B. Sai Sudharsan maintained his remarkable form in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 by scoring a brilliant 82, while pacer Prasidh Krishna recorded figures of 3-24 in a strong bowling display, leading the Gujarat Titans to a convincing 58-run victory against the Rajasthan Royals in Match 23 held at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Wednesday.

On a red-soil surface, Sudharsan displayed a blend of creativity, timing, and placement, captivating the audience during his 53-ball innings, which included eight fours and three sixes across different areas, particularly on the off-side.

He formed key partnerships of 80 and 62 with Jos Buttler and Shahrukh Khan, both contributing 36 runs each. Rahul Tewatia and Rashid Khan added vital runs at the end, helping GT finish at a robust 217/6. In response, Krishna utilized his length effectively, taking wickets with short deliveries as RR was bowled out for 159 in 19.2 overs.

For RR, aside from Shimron Hetmyer (52), Sanju Samson (41), and Riyan Parag (26), no other batsman could reach double figures, resulting in GT's fourth consecutive win, propelling them to the top of the points table.

Jofra Archer bowled with speed, reaching 152.3 kmph. Sudharsan narrowly avoided being dismissed on a top edge before hitting Fazalhaq Farooqi for two boundaries. However, Archer struck when he bowled Shubman Gill with a blazing 148 kmph delivery.

Buttler countered Archer's pace by driving him through cover for four, while Sudharsan showcased his inventive skills by ramping Farooqi and lapping Tushar Deshpande for sixes. Sudharsan dazzled everyone with his timing and placement, executing a straight drive and a late cut off Deshpande for two boundaries, as GT concluded the power-play at 56/1.

Buttler's excellent form persisted as he scooped and pulled Farooqi for consecutive boundaries, followed by a backfoot drive that went over Maheesh Theekshana for another four. After slog-sweeping Theekshana for four, Sudharsan reached his fifty in just 32 balls, but Theekshana trapped Buttler lbw for 36 while attempting to pull.

With Sudharsan continuing his stellar performance, Shahrukh injected more momentum by hitting back-to-back fours off Farooqi, then lofting Deshpande for a six. He further pulled Theekshana for another six before edging a delivery and getting stumped for 36.

RR managed to take advantage of a wide line as Sherfane Rutherford edged behind off Sandeep Sharma. Sudharsan flexed his muscles by slicing and driving Sandeep for consecutive boundaries before nicking behind off Deshpande for 82, after being dropped on 81.

Deshpande struck again on his final ball when a diving backward square leg caught a rampaging Rashid. By this time, GT had surpassed 200, and Tewatia smashed two fours and a six to secure another high total for the IPL 2022 winners on their home ground.

In defending a substantial total, GT started aggressively. Yashasvi Jaiswal slashed to deep third off Arshad Khan, while Nitish Rana’s uppercut was caught in the same area off Mohammed Siraj. Parag initiated a fightback by flicking Siraj for a six, while Sanju Samson struck two fours and a six off Arshad.

Parag lofted Siraj over mid-on for six, while Samson swiped him over mid-wicket for four. Parag's explosive run continued as he swiped and clipped Krishna for six and four, with RR concluding the power-play at 57/2. However, shortly after, Parag edged behind to Jos Buttler off impact player Kulwant Khejroliya, dismissed for 26.

Rashid Khan joined the wicket-taker's list when Dhruv Jurel mistimed his pull on a googly and was caught at deep mid-wicket. Samson and Hetmyer revived RR's innings— the latter struck Rashid for three boundaries before they scored 16 runs off Khejroliya.

However, Krishna curtailed the brief resurgence by getting some extra bounce and having Samson edge to short third man for 41. Rashid struck again, trapping impact player Shubham Dubey lbw for just 1. Hetmyer continued to battle valiantly, surviving two drops and reaching his fifty off 29 balls by driving Prasidh through extra cover for four.

But Krishna effectively sealed the match in GT’s favor by dismissing both Archer and the dangerous Hetmyer, who pulled to deep backward square leg for 52, within the same over. R Sai Kishore claimed the remaining wickets to ensure GT extended their winning streak.
