Ahmedabad, April 9 (NationPress) Fast bowler Prasidh Krishna delivered an outstanding performance with figures of 3-24, contributing to a stellar bowling display that led the Gujarat Titans to a commanding 58-run victory over the Rajasthan Royals in Match 23 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Wednesday.
Following an impressive innings by B. Sai Sudharsan, who scored a brilliant 82 and propelled GT to a formidable 217/6, Krishna's precision on a red-soil pitch proved pivotal as RR was dismissed for 159. Apart from Shimron Hetmyer (52), Sanju Samson (41), and Riyan Parag (26), no other RR batsman reached double figures, marking GT's fourth consecutive win, placing them at the top of the points table.
In defending a hefty total, GT started strongly. Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed early, caught at deep third off Arshad Khan, and Nitish Rana followed suit, caught off a similar delivery from Mohammed Siraj. Parag initiated a response by hitting Siraj for six, while Samson showcased his skills with two fours and a six off Arshad.
Parag continued his aggressive batting, lofting Siraj for six, while Samson struck a boundary off mid-wicket. Parag’s impressive run persisted as he scored six and four off Krishna, concluding the power-play at 57/2. However, shortly afterward, Parag edged behind to Jos Buttler off impact player Kulwant Khejroliya, departing for 26.
Rashid Khan joined the wicket-taking spree, dismissing Dhruv Jurel with a googly. Samson and Hetmyer then attempted to stabilize RR's innings, with Hetmyer hitting three boundaries before they accumulated 16 runs off Khejroliya.
But Krishna halted the brief resurgence by enticing Samson to edge to short third man for 41. Rashid faced a similar fate, trapped lbw by impact player Shubham Dubey for just one run. Hetmyer, fighting alone, was dropped twice and reached his fifty off 29 balls, driving Prasidh through extra cover for four.
Ultimately, Krishna sealed the match for GT by catching Jofra Archer at mid-off and dismissing the dangerous Hetmyer, who pulled to deep backward square leg for 52. R Sai Kishore cleaned up the remaining wickets, ensuring GT's winning streak in IPL 2025 continued.
