Bengaluru, April 1 (NationPress) After a two-year hiatus from the Indian Premier League (IPL), the former Indian fast bowler Prasidh Krishna has been instrumental in Gujarat Titans' 36-run victory over Mumbai Indians in their last match and is thrilled about the upcoming contest against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Wednesday.
One of the key reasons for Prasidh Krishna's enthusiasm about the matchup with RCB is that it will take him back to M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, his hometown where he honed his skills. "It's fantastic to return home and compete in a stadium where you've spent so much time. The first game in Bangalore is also exciting; we can't wait to see how it unfolds," Prasidh remarked during a pre-match press conference on Tuesday.
"Our team is feeling upbeat about the tournament's start. We've performed well in several areas and are striving to improve in others. It's going to be thrilling," added Prasidh Krishna, who secured figures of 2-18 in their recent encounter against the Mumbai Indians.
After a lengthy absence due to injuries, Prasidh is back in IPL action, and playing in front of family and friends in Bengaluru adds to his motivation as a 29-year-old right-arm fast bowler.
"Despite trying to convince myself that it’s just another tournament, just another game, I felt the weight of returning after a long break, particularly without much T20 experience in the last two years. The game's speed has shifted from 2022 to 2025. It took some adjustment, but that's part of the sport," stated Prasidh, who went wicketless in his debut for Gujarat Titans against Punjab Kings on March 25.
"The game keeps evolving, and you must adapt. Physically, not much has changed for me. Thankfully, I’ve been playing cricket again, and my body is cooperating with my plans," said the bowler, who has featured in three Tests, 17 ODIs, and five T20Is, performing respectably across all formats.
The Gujarat Titans will face a formidable challenge against RCB, who have convincingly won both of their matches against Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings.
For Prasidh Krishna and his teammate Mohammed Siraj, who have considerable experience at M. Chinnaswamy, the task ahead is substantial. With Ashish Nehra, a former Indian pacer, as their head coach, Prasidh is also absorbing valuable insights into fast bowling. "I’m eager to learn from him about his perspective on the game. With his extensive experience and success, it’s crucial for me to adopt his approach.
"Our discussions often revolve around the decisions bowlers must make, the preparations for matches, managing pressure, and tackling various challenges. These insights from Ashish Nehra are invaluable; I gain different perspectives from various individuals," Prasidh concluded.
