How Did Prasidh Krishna Learn His Bowling Role in GT from ODI Cricket?

New Delhi, May 3 (NationPress) After reclaiming the Purple Cap in IPL 2025 with a remarkable performance of 2-19 in four overs, fast-bowler Prasidh Krishna of Gujarat Titans (GT) attributed his success to his experience in ODI cricket, which has refined his role within the franchise during this tournament.

"This was a fresh role for me, yet it felt familiar as I had been performing similar duties in my 50-over games. I focused on mastering how to bowl during the 5th and 6th overs of the powerplay and then guiding the team forward. Success is hard to gauge when individual performance doesn’t translate into team victories," Prasidh stated in a video on iplt20.com on Saturday.

Following Gujarat’s 38-run triumph over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), they secured 14 points, placing them second in the points table, just behind the five-time champions Mumbai Indians. "We’ve been performing exceptionally well, and everyone is contributing effectively in our preparations and during the matches," he added.

"The practice sessions have been outstanding since day one, even before the tournament kicked off. It’s evident we’ve all been diligent in our efforts. The results on the field reflect that, and I’m thrilled with our recent win," Prasidh remarked.

He also commended the leadership of captain Shubman Gill and head coach Ashish Nehra, who have been pivotal in GT’s success this season. "Gill is excelling in his role. He knows exactly how to communicate with each of us and what strategies to implement. His insights, especially from his batting experience, are invaluable for us," he added.

"The guidance we receive from Gill, coupled with our pre-game discussions, enhances our performance. He is continually improving, and Nehra ensures our team remains cohesive. The meetings are intimate, fostering strong connections among us," Prasidh continued.

Gill, who led the scoring with 76 runs, expressed satisfaction with the team’s overall performance, particularly the bowlers' efforts to function as a united front. "When I’m on the field, my focus is solely on scoring runs for the team. The contributions from everyone—batting, bowling, and fielding—are what make us a solid unit," he stated.

"A captain’s effectiveness is inherently tied to the team’s performance. While planning is crucial, executing those plans is where the real credit belongs to the bowlers. Their ability to implement strategies under pressure is remarkable to witness," he said.

Gill concluded by highlighting the synergy with coach Nehra. "He provides extensive insights into the game, and I’m open to receiving his suggestions. Our collaboration has been very fruitful," he said.
