Ahmedabad, April 19 (NationPress) The Purple Cap holder and pace bowler Prasidh Krishna expressed confidence that the Gujarat Titans effectively limited the Delhi Capitals to a reasonable score after exceptional bowling during the death overs allowed the visitors to post 203/8 in their 20 overs at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Saturday.

Initially, it appeared that Delhi was on track for a substantial total, but Prasidh took four crucial wickets, including KL Rahul, Karun Nair, Axar Patel, and Vipraj Nigam, with the latter two falling in successive deliveries. This significantly impeded the league leaders' momentum and kept them from reaching an even larger score.

“The pitch was favorable for batting. The pace was easily manageable for the batters. We bowlers found it challenging to adapt. Our fielding also didn't support us in those conditions. However, we managed to restrict them to a decent score. I focused on hitting my lengths and tried to utilize the pitch effectively. It paid off today. Anything pitched up was going for runs. I backed my yorker today, and it worked out well. The heat was intense,” Prasidh Krishna shared during the mid-innings interval on Saturday.

The Titans' performance in the death overs certainly complemented Krishna’s efforts, with Ishant Sharma conceding only 19 runs across his three overs. It was unexpected that Sai Kishore was not utilized more, as Shubman Gill only gave him the final over, whereas Rashid Khan was tasked with bowling his full four overs, which resulted in him giving away 38 runs. In contrast, Kishore only allowed six runs in his last over and also took the crucial wicket of Ashutosh Sharma.

Krishna, who concluded the match with figures of 4-41, commended his teammates for their strong performance in the final overs.

“Handling the intensity and pressure during a match in such conditions is quite challenging. Sai finished exceptionally well, and credit goes to Ishant for bowling dot balls and restricting the runs,” he remarked.
