Hyderabad, April 6 (NationPress) Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill praised his bowlers after their impressive seven-wicket victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2025 match on Sunday.
Mohammed Siraj achieved his career-best IPL performance, taking 4 wickets for just 17 runs, effectively limiting Hyderabad to 152 runs for 8 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Rashid Khan and Prasidh Krishna also contributed with two wickets each, dominating the Hyderabad batting lineup.
In response, Gill's unbeaten innings of 61, combined with Washington Sundar's 49 and Sherfane Rutherford's explosive 35 not out, led the team to a resounding victory with 20 balls remaining.
“Bowlers are the real game-changers in this format. While many focus on big hitters, it’s the bowlers who secure victories. Our strategy was to play grounded shots, which was the focus between me and Washington Sundar,” Gill stated during the post-match presentation.
Gill and Sundar formed a crucial 90-run partnership off just 56 balls after the early dismissals of Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler. Gill commended his teammate for delivering an impressive performance in his debut match.
“He (Sundar) was ready to play in the game against MI, but with the Impact Player rule, adjustments are sometimes necessary. His batting today was exceptional. We didn’t have much dialogue; it was about playing quality cricketing shots. Once we established a 30-40 run partnership, we were able to take control of the game,” Gill mentioned.
“The enthusiasm Mohammed Siraj brings while bowling and fielding is truly infectious,” he added.
