Hyderabad, April 7 (NationPress) Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins remarked that the Gujarat Titans pace bowlers proved challenging to face after their significant seven-wicket defeat in the IPL 2025 match held at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Sunday.
Batting first, Hyderabad managed only 152/8 in their 20 overs, with Mohammed Siraj achieving his best-ever IPL figures of 4-17, while Prasidh Krishna and Rashid Khan each took two wickets.
For Hyderabad, Nitish Kumar Reddy was the highest scorer with 31 runs, while Cummins contributed 22 not out off nine balls, including three fours and a six, helping the team surpass the 150-run mark.
In the post-match presentation, Cummins stated, “The wicket in Hyderabad is quite challenging. If you lose early wickets, it puts you under pressure. The ball didn't spin much, and with a bit of dew, they played exceptionally well. Their pace attack was difficult to contend with today.”
In response, Shubman Gill scored an unbeaten 61, supported by Washing Sundar with 49 and Sherfane Rutherford who added a quick 35 not out, guiding Gujarat to a convincing victory with 20 balls remaining.
Making his debut for the Titans, Sundar expressed his gratitude for the chance he received from the franchise and was happy with his performance at the crease. He noted, “The skipper advised me to bat deep and finish the game for the team. The trend in Hyderabad has been that the wicket improves, making it easier to chase scores of 160-170. I was prepared for it, which helped me. After a couple of early wickets, the coach sent me in at No. 4, and I thoroughly enjoyed my time batting.”
