Gulbadin Naib Penalized for Code of Conduct Violation Against Zimbabwe

Dubai, Dec 14 (NationPress) Afghanistan's Gulbadin Naib has been subjected to a fine amounting to 15 percent of his match fee for infringing Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the second T20I matchup against Zimbabwe in Harare on Friday.
The ICC announced, "Naib has faced penalties for breaching Article 2.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to demonstrating dissent toward an umpire’s ruling during an international contest."
This incident transpired in the 11th over of Zimbabwe’s innings when an LBW appeal against Tashinga Musekiwa was dismissed following a delivery from captain Rashid Khan. Naib exhibited dissent by bowing in a mocking prayer and soliciting a review, despite the absence of DRS in this match.
Alongside the financial penalty, a demerit point has been added to the former captain of Afghanistan's disciplinary record, marking his initial offense within a 24-month timeframe.
Naib acknowledged the violation and accepted the punishment recommended by Match Referee Andy Pycroft. Consequently, a formal hearing was deemed unnecessary.
The series between Zimbabwe and Afghanistan stands tied at 1-1 as they approach the decisive match on Saturday at the Harare Sports Club.
