New Delhi, Nov 9 (NationPress) Right-handed batter Hasan Nawaz has been released from the Pakistan squad ahead of the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka and the T20I tri-series featuring Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka, as announced by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Sunday.

The PCB further revealed that Fakhar Zaman, a left-handed opener, will take Nawaz's place in the T20I lineup, although no replacement has been named for the ODI segment of the series. "Hasan will now participate in the ongoing Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, Pakistan’s top first-class tournament, with the seventh round set to commence on November 11," the PCB stated.

To date, Nawaz has scored a total of 113 runs in four ODIs and 457 runs across 25 T20Is. Following a poor performance during the 2025 Men’s T20 Asia Cup in the UAE, Nawaz's struggles continued in the limited-overs matches against South Africa at home, where he registered scores of 3, 5, and 1.

The ODI matches between Pakistan and Sri Lanka are slated to take place at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from November 11-15, with the tri-series happening in Rawalpindi and Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore from November 17-29.

Zimbabwe has replaced Afghanistan as the third team in the tri-series after the latter withdrew due to cross-border tensions with Pakistan. This tri-series will serve as a vital opportunity for all three teams to refine their strategies in preparation for the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to occur in India and Sri Lanka.
