Lahore, Nov 13 (NationPress) The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has unveiled a new timetable for the tri-nation series that includes hosts Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Zimbabwe. The inaugural match is set for November 18 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi. All seven T20I fixtures, culminating in the final, will be hosted at this venue.
The first encounter, originally slated for November 17, will see Pakistan face off against Zimbabwe on the 18th. Each participating team will play four games, with the top two teams advancing to the final on November 29.
This T20I Tri-Nation Tournament, featuring Pakistan (the host), Sri Lanka, and Zimbabwe, is intended as a vital preparation for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2026.
The adjustment in the schedule was necessitated by a delay in two ongoing ODI matches against Sri Lanka, which were postponed by a day at the request of several team members to return to Sri Lanka due to the tragic suicide bombing in Islamabad.
The PCB stated, "The schedule revision was made after consulting with Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) and Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC), following comprehensive discussions to meet operational and match requirements."
Initially, Afghanistan was to be the third team in the series alongside Pakistan and Sri Lanka. However, following the death of three local cricketers in airstrikes in Paktika province by Pakistan, Afghanistan withdrew from the series, allowing Zimbabwe to step in.
