New Delhi, Feb 16 (NationPress) Arsenal forward Kai Havertz took to social media to announce that he underwent a successful surgery following the hamstring injury he sustained in Dubai.

The German forward has been sidelined for the rest of the 2024-25 season and is now "focused on his journey to full fitness".

“The last few days have been hard to cope with both physically and mentally. But yesterday was a positive day. A successful operation and a win. Thank you for all the messages of encouragement over the past few days; they have truly helped. I’m now dedicated to my path to full recovery and providing all the support I can for the team from the sidelines,” Havertz shared on X.

At just 25, Havertz had been a vital player for Arsenal this season, with 15 goals and five assists in 34 matches across all competitions.

The Gunners currently have only Ethan Nwaneri, Raheem Sterling, and Leo Trossard available for their forward lineup, as both Havertz and Gabriel Jesus have been ruled out for the season.

This trio started against Leicester City on Saturday in a match that showcased a lackluster performance. Except for Nwaneri, the Arsenal attack lacked energy, prompting Mikel Arteta to substitute in Mikel Merino as a false nine. Merino remarkably scored twice in his debut as a striker, leading the Gunners to victory at the King Power Stadium.

Arteta commented on Havertz's injury during the pre-Leicester press conference on Friday.

“We were enjoying a fantastic camp in Dubai, recharging, training, and connecting with nature in a different setting when the injury occurred unexpectedly. It’s certainly a significant setback due to our current injuries, but thankfully, we have faced many challenges this season.

“That’s the task ahead. I embrace it and look forward because we are still in a good position despite everything I mentioned, including playing four matches with 10 men, and so on. Let’s see what the team is capable of,” Arteta stated.
