This marks Matthews' fourth monthly accolade, having previously won in November 2021, October 2023, and April 2024. With this latest achievement, she now shares the record for the most ICC Women's Player of the Month honors with Ash Gardner from Australia.

The West Indies captain received recognition following an impressive performance, predominantly in the T20 format, where she earned another Player of the Series title during a 2-1 T20I series victory at home against South Africa.

In response to the announcement, Matthews expressed gratitude while acknowledging the team's collective efforts. "Receiving the Player of the Month award again is a true privilege. I’m thrilled with my form lately, but the team's achievements matter most, especially in a challenging T20I series against South Africa," she stated.

"While I appreciate this recognition, my eyes are set on future goals. There’s so much more I aspire to accomplish, both individually and with this team. We are progressing well, and I’m eager for what lies ahead," Matthews added.

In the series, Matthews scored 147 runs at a strike rate of 120.49 with an average of 73.50, also contributing with two wickets through her crucial off-spin bowling.

After a modest score of 19 in the first match, she played a key role in the innings with an unbeaten 63 and a subsequent 65, helping the West Indies recover from a 0-1 deficit to clinch the series 2-1.

Despite not performing at her peak during the ODI series and dealing with a shoulder injury that requires surgery, Matthews still made valuable contributions, scoring 40 and 56 runs and taking four wickets at an average of 34.25 in a 2-1 defeat.
