Hockey: Chile to Host the 2025 Women’s Junior World Cup

Lausanne (Switzerland), Dec 2 (NationPress) The capital city of Chile, Santiago, will welcome the redesigned 11th edition of the FIH Hockey Women’s Junior World Cup next year, as confirmed by the International Hockey Federation (FIH) on Monday. This marks the fourth time that the South American nation will host the event, which will now feature the largest-ever assembly of young talents from across the globe.

The 2025 edition, with dates yet to be announced, will include eight additional teams competing. This increase in participants aligns with the FIH Empowerment and Engagement strategy, aimed at providing more opportunities for a larger and more diverse range of National Associations.

Thus, the 2025 FIH Hockey Junior World Cups – for both women and men – will feature 24 teams for the very first time in the history of the FIH!

In addition to the hosts, Chile, already qualified teams include the defending champions Netherlands, Spain, England, Germany, Belgium, Ireland, Wales, Czechia, Argentina, USA, Uruguay, and Canada.

Teams from Africa, Asia, and Oceania will qualify at a later stage.

Andrés de Witt, President of the Chilean Field Hockey Federation and the Local Organizing Committee, stated, 'This recognition reaffirms Chile's commitment, through the leadership of our Board of Directors, to actively support and contribute to the global growth of hockey. We eagerly await the chance to welcome everyone to Santiago de Chile in December 2025!'

FIH President Tayyab Ikram added, 'Expanding opportunities and fostering inclusivity are at the core of our mission to advance hockey worldwide. The FIH Hockey Junior World Cups embody the vibrant future of our sport, showcasing exceptional young talent from around the globe. The 2025 edition in Santiago, Chile, will unite 24 energetic teams from various regions, providing an unparalleled display of competition and diversity.'

The last edition of the FIH Hockey Women’s Junior World Cup took place in 2023, also in Santiago, where the Netherlands emerged victorious.
