Brighton, March 28 (NationPress) Brighton & Hove Albion's head coach Fabian Hurzeler has minimized the significance of the upcoming FA Cup quarterfinal match against Nottingham Forest as his team strives for their first major trophy since they clinched the FA Charity Shield, now referred to as the Community Shield, in the 1910/11 season.

Brighton secured their place in the quarterfinals with impressive victories over Chelsea and Newcastle United in the earlier rounds. Hurzeler stated, "Naturally, we acknowledge the moment, but I believe it's essential not to exaggerate its importance. Yes, it's a crucial match, yet it's similar to all our other games where we aim to enhance our performance and push our limits," during a press briefing.

"I don’t intend to amplify the situation; we recognize it as a significant opportunity, yet it’s comparable to every other match," he continued.

As of the beginning of the 2022-23 season, only Manchester City (48) and Manchester United (33) have netted more FA Cup goals (from the first round onward) than Brighton, who have scored 30 in 11 matches.

The last encounter between the two teams took place on February 1, in the Premier League, where the Seagulls suffered a staggering 0-7 defeat at the City ground. Chris Wood netted a hat-trick that night, marking Brighton's most severe loss in 67 years, but the Kiwi forward will be unavailable due to an injury sustained while on international duty.

The German manager refrained from discussing the prior loss and emphasized his team's belief in their ability to triumph over any opponent on their best day.

"I won’t delve into that," Hurzeler mentioned. "The players have embraced a strong sense of accountability, asserting the need to return to the principles that empower us, which include collaboration, demonstrating intensity, and fostering the conviction that we can defeat any team in the league."
