Hyderabad, March 6 (NationPress) A significant two-day conference, gathering sports ministers from all states and senior officials, is set to commence on Friday to establish India's strategy for the 2028 Olympics.

Led by Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya, this high-level Chintan Shivir aims to create a comprehensive vision for the upcoming Los Angeles Olympics and support India's bid to host the 2036 Olympics.

Organized by the Union government's Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) at Kanha Shanti Vanam located on the outskirts of the city, discussions will revolve around the roadmap for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, as the nation aspires to secure a double-digit medal count.

India is also pursuing the opportunity to host the 2036 Olympics, having submitted a letter of intent to the International Olympic Committee.

This two-day brainstorming event will unite sports ministers from various States/UTs, senior sports administrators, key government officials, and industry experts to share insights and develop a roadmap aimed at positioning India as a global sports powerhouse.

MYAS indicated that discussions will prioritize enhancing sports governance, grassroots talent identification, infrastructure improvement, inclusivity, and fostering collaborations.

Minister Mandaviya, who is at the forefront of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision to uplift India's sports sector, will engage in strategic dialogue with stakeholders about India's Olympic aspirations and the enhancement of the sports ecosystem. State representatives will showcase their best practices and innovative approaches during the Chintan Shivir, as stated in an official release.

Central themes of the Chintan Shivir will include an overview of various Union Government schemes, coordination with States/UTs, partnerships with corporations for sports development and infrastructure, talent scouting, promoting good governance in sports, discussions on expanding Khelo India and Fit India, advocating for inclusivity in sports, and ensuring the welfare of athletes and coaches.

"The achievements of Indian athletes at the recent Uttarakhand National Games underscore our vast potential. Our objective is unequivocal: to attain Olympic excellence and transform India into a global sports leader. By exchanging ideas and best practices, we can establish a structured and sustainable sports framework. Hosting the Olympics is a national mission, and we must progress collectively," emphasized the Union Minister.

An essential element of the discussions will involve tapping into the expertise of former athletes. Mandaviya has called on states to identify top sports figures who can transition into coaching roles, thereby bridging gaps in the sports ecosystem and enhancing the talent development pipeline.

This Chintan Shivir is poised to act as a catalyst for transformative changes within the Indian sports ecosystem, laying the groundwork for long-term success on the global stage, the release noted.
