Dubai, Nov 4 (NationPress) Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf has received a two-match suspension, meaning he will be absent for the upcoming two ODIs against South Africa. This penalty is a result of his violation of the ICC Code of Conduct during the final match against India on September 28 in the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Asia Cup, as announced by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday.
The ICC clarified the disciplinary measures regarding the Asia Cup 2025 fixtures between India and Pakistan, indicating that these sanctions followed hearings led by the ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees.
According to the ICC's statement, “After a hearing with ICC Match Referee Richie Richardson, Haris Rauf was found guilty of breaching Article 2.21, incurring a fine of 30 percent of his match fee and receiving two additional demerit points.”
This latest ruling brings Rauf’s total demerit points to four within a 24-month timeframe, resulting in two suspension points according to the ICC’s disciplinary framework. Consequently, Rauf will not participate in Pakistan’s ODI matches against South Africa on November 4 and 6.
Previously, Rauf was penalized for the same infraction and fined 30 percent of his match fee during the group stage match on September 14, resulting in two demerit points.
In other news, Pakistan batter Sahibzada Farhan received an official warning and one demerit point for a similar code of conduct violation after his celebratory gesture following a fifty against India during the Super 4 match in Dubai.
During the match on September 14, India captain Suryakumar Yadav was also found guilty of breaching Article 2.21, receiving a fine of 30 percent of his match fee and incurring two demerit points.
For the match on September 21, Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh was acquitted of charges under Article 2.6 regarding obscene gestures, facing no penalties.
In the final match on September 28, Jasprit Bumrah acknowledged a Level 1 offence under Article 2.21, receiving an official warning and one demerit point, thus evading a formal disciplinary hearing.
