Mumbai, Nov 5 (NationPress) The Chief Justice of India, B.R. In his speech during the unveiling of the Maharashtra National Law University initiative in Goregaon (West), North Mumbai, he asserted, “The quality of judicial infrastructure in Maharashtra is among the finest in the nation.”
The Chief Justice noted that the Maharashtra government has generously provided land for the university project and expressed optimism that it would achieve both national and international acclaim.
Addressing the students, he emphasized that legal education transcends mere profession; it serves as a vital instrument for social transformation. Lawyers function as social engineers, advocating for social and economic justice.
In his remarks, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that Maharashtra is poised to become a hub for international-standard legal education.
“Maharashtra is unique in the nation for having three National Law Universities. All permissions for the state-of-the-art project associated with Mumbai University have been secured. This initiative will serve as a legal education center not only for Maharashtra but on a global scale. The world's premier universities are set to join the 'Edu-City' being developed in Navi Mumbai,” he elaborated.
“In today’s landscape, all sectors—industry, business, social life, and politics—are intricately linked to the education sector. Currently, human capital is the most treasured asset. Previously, human resources were drawn to capital; now, capital seeks out human resources. Hence, we are focused on cultivating exceptional human resources in Maharashtra,” the Chief Minister noted.
Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde affirmed the state government’s dedication to fortifying the judicial system.
“Expanding the judiciary remains a top priority for the state government. There will be no deficit in the resources essential for the judiciary,” he asserted.
Chief Justice of Bombay High Court Chandrashekhar remarked, "A law university is not merely a place for education; it is a foundation for cultivating responsible citizens. The essence of education is not solely knowledge acquisition but the pursuit of excellence in life and the nurturing of human values. A commendable student, teacher, or citizen must first be a good human being," he observed.
