Previously, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, praised the achievements of the dairy powerhouse Amul and the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) for their outstanding performance among the top ten cooperatives globally.
In his post on X, HM Shah remarked, “A proud moment for Bharat! Heartfelt congratulations to Amul and IFFCO for securing the top two positions among the world’s leading cooperatives.”

It is also a reflection of the limitless potential of cooperatives, which are evolving into a global model of empowerment and self-sufficiency under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership,” HM Shah added.
India’s dairy industry is a cornerstone of rural livelihoods and a beacon of inclusive growth. As the world’s largest milk producer, India has successfully integrated farmer-led cooperatives, active participation from women, and scientific methods to achieve remarkable advancements.
Importantly, while preserving existing achievements, the government continues to support the sector through subsidies, credit options, and research and development in fodder and animal health, ensuring that India’s dairy sector remains robust, inclusive, and ready to meet future domestic and international demands.
