Kalol, April 6 (NationPress) Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah visited Gujarat on Sunday to take part in a momentous occasion at the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) facility in Kalol.
This event commemorated the golden jubilee of the Kalol plant, a vital milestone in the evolution of India’s cooperative and agricultural landscape.
Amit Shah served as the chief guest, with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel attending as the special guest of honour.
State Agriculture Minister Raghavji Patel was also present, highlighting the significance of the occasion at both state and national levels.
During the celebrations, Amit Shah officially inaugurated a newly formed Seed Research Center at the IFFCO campus. This center is designed to foster advancements in seed technology and agricultural productivity, building on IFFCO's five-decade commitment to enhancing the livelihoods of India’s farming community.
A substantial number of farmers from across Gujarat attended the ceremony, showcasing the organization’s profound grassroots connection.
In his address, Amit Shah emphasized the importance of the day, pointing out that the event coincided with both Ram Navami and the foundation day of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)—two significant occasions symbolizing new beginnings and enduring growth.

Amit Shah highlighted IFFCO’s pioneering work in developing nano fertilizers such as Nano Urea and Nano DAP, technologies that have gained international recognition.

Regarding the newly inaugurated Seed Research Center, the Home Minister remarked that it represents a significant advancement in India’s agricultural strategy.

“Even if this seed research begins with a small setup today, its roots will solidify the foundation for future agricultural innovation,” he stated.

IFFCO operates fertilizer production facilities at five locations across three states, boasting an impressive annual turnover of Rs 40,000 crore.
The organization has consistently pushed boundaries, particularly in adopting environmentally responsible practices.
“From lagging in environmental responsibility, we are now leading from the front,” said Amit Shah, citing innovations such as liquid urea that are so compact, “you wouldn’t even realize you’re carrying fertilizer in your pocket.”
He also noted a transformative shift where even women farmers are now utilizing drones to spray liquid urea—an example of how modern technologies are empowering India’s rural workforce.
“The resilience of Indian farmers will not only modernize agriculture but also protect the environment in the coming decades,” he stated.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel also addressed the attendees, welcoming them to the 50th anniversary and foundation stone ceremony.
He remarked that the cooperative movement has been crucial in realizing the ideals of ‘Ram Rajya’, a harmonious and prosperous society rooted in Indian values.
“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi and Amit Shah, the field of cooperation is experiencing unparalleled growth and innovation,” the Chief Minister said.
