New Delhi, Nov 5 (NationPress) In a remarkable acknowledgment of the limitless capabilities of cooperatives, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, extended his congratulations to the dairy powerhouse Amul and the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) for their outstanding achievement of securing the top two spots in the global ranking of cooperatives.

This significant milestone for India’s cooperative sector highlights the excellence of Amul and IFFCO, which have proudly claimed the first and second positions, respectively, among the world’s leading cooperatives.

In a message shared on the X social media platform, HM Shah expressed, “A proud moment for Bharat! Heartfelt congratulations to Amul and IFFCO for attaining the first two ranks among the top ten cooperatives globally.”

He further emphasized, “This honor reflects the relentless efforts of millions of women affiliated with Amul and the farmers contributing to IFFCO. It also showcases the immense potential of cooperatives, which are evolving into a global example of empowerment and self-sufficiency under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”

Additionally, India’s dairy industry serves as a cornerstone for rural livelihoods and exemplifies inclusive growth. As the largest milk producer worldwide, India has effectively integrated farmer-led cooperatives, women's involvement, and scientific methodologies to achieve remarkable advancements.

Importantly, while continuing to protect existing achievements, the sector receives ongoing support through subsidies, credit facilities, and research and development in fodder and animal health, ensuring that India’s dairy sector remains resilient, inclusive, and prepared to address future domestic and international demands.

Furthermore, the National Co-operative Exports Limited (NCEL), established by the Government in 2023, has reached an impressive milestone by exporting agricultural commodities worth Rs 5,403.01 crore, including rice, fresh red onion, sugar, baby food, processed food, spices, and tea.

NCEL has been driven by five prominent cooperatives: Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO), Krishak Bharati Cooperative Limited (KRIBHCO), National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Limited (NAFED), Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF–Amul), and the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC).
