ICC Rankings: Bumrah Matches Ashwin’s Record as Joint Highest-Rated Indian Test Bowler

Dubai, Dec 25 (NationPress) India's leading pacer Jasprit Bumrah has reinforced his position at the top of the ICC Men's Test Bowling Rankings following an outstanding performance in Brisbane. Bumrah's impressive nine-wicket haul for just 94 runs in the rain-affected third Test against Australia earned him an additional 14 rating points, elevating his total to a career-best 904.
With this rating, Bumrah has matched the record set by former spinner Ravichandran Ashwin in December 2016, making him the joint highest-rated Indian Test bowler in ICC history. With one more Test remaining in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy to be played in Melbourne, Bumrah has the opportunity to surpass Ashwin's record.
Currently, South Africa's Kagiso Rabada and Australia's Josh Hazlewood are ranked second and third, respectively, but they trail Bumrah by a significant margin in points.
In the ongoing series against India, Australia's Travis Head has continued his excellent performance, ascending to fourth place in the Men's Test Batting Rankings. His remarkable innings of 152 at the Gabba, following his century in Adelaide, has propelled him one spot higher to number four with 825 points.
Head's teammate Steve Smith made a noteworthy contribution with a century in the third Test, re-entering the top ten. Meanwhile, Indian opener KL Rahul showcased a commendable performance in India's first innings, climbing ten places to 40th.
Australia’s captain Pat Cummins has regained his position in the top 10 all-rounders, following his four wickets and 42 runs in the third Test against India.
In the ODI format, Heinrich Klaasen's three remarkable half-centuries during the home series against Pakistan have propelled him from 13th to fifth place in the Men's ODI Batting Rankings with 743 points. Saim Ayub's impressive two centuries in the same series, which Pakistan won 3-0, have led to a meteoric rise from 70th to a joint 23rd position, accumulating 603 points.
The 22-year-old Ayub also significantly advanced, jumping 113 spots to rank joint 42nd among all-rounders in the ODI Rankings due to his bowling contributions during the series.
Azmatullah Omarzai from Afghanistan made substantial strides, moving up 43 places to 58th in the ODI Bowling Rankings after taking six wickets in the series against Zimbabwe. Omarzai also climbed five places to secure third in the ODI All-Rounder Rankings.
Bangladesh's successful multiformat tour of the West Indies concluded with a 3-0 victory in the T20I series, reflected in the rankings.
