BCCI's Stylish Tribute to Bumrah on Achieving 200 Test Wickets

New Delhi, Dec 29 (NationPress) The BCCI offered its most fashionable congratulations to pace-bowling leader Jasprit Bumrah for achieving the remarkable 200-wicket milestone in men's Test cricket during Day-4 of the Boxing Day Test against Australia on Sunday.

Bumrah has become the sixth Indian fast bowler to take 200 wickets in men’s Tests. He reached this landmark in his 44th Test match when he dismissed Travis Head for a mere one run, raising both arms in triumph.

"We only believe in Jassi bhai 200 Test Wickets for Boom Boom Bumrah. He marks this milestone with the significant wicket of Travis Head," the BCCI noted on X.

No player in the history of Test cricket has achieved this milestone with a better average than Bumrah, whose current average is 19.56, surpassing the former West Indies pacer Joel Garner, who reached it with an average of 20.34.

Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan also commended Bumrah for this historic accomplishment. "Best bowler we ever had JASPRIT BUMRAH. Less than 20 avg for 200 wickets WOW," he remarked in a post on X.

Bumrah, who debuted in Tests in 2018, is the second-fastest Indian bowler to achieve this milestone, now tied with Ravindra Jadeja. The recently retired Ravichandran Ashwin holds the record for the fastest Indian to reach 200 Test wickets, accomplishing this in 37 innings.

"A symphony like none other," shared Bumrah's IPL team Mumbai Indians on X.

Among Indian fast bowlers, Bumrah is the quickest, with the legendary Kapil Dev being the next best, achieving his 200th wicket in his 50th Test. In overall terms, Yasir Shah from Pakistan holds the record for the fastest to 200 Test wickets, reaching the landmark in just 33 Tests.

"Best in the world does it time and time again," expressed former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer.

In terms of deliveries bowled, Bumrah has delivered 8484 balls, making him the fourth-quickest in Test cricket history to reach 200 wickets, behind Pakistan’s Waqar Younis (7725), South Africa’s Dale Steyn (7848), and Kagiso Rabada (8153).

“200 sticks at 19.56. Unreal. What a bowler. Mind-boggling stuff. Well done Boom Boom," said former India head coach Ravi Shastri on X.

“The Greatest of all time is doing what he does best here at the ‘G’ .. @Jaspritbumrah93 is incredible ..,” commented former England captain Michael Vaughan on X.
