Ice Hockey League: Tsewang Chuskit’s Hat-Trick Leads Changla Lamos to Women’s Final

Leh, Jan 11 (NationPress) Fueled by an outstanding hat-trick from national team star Tsewang Chuskit, Changla Lamos charged into the women’s final of the Ice Hockey League Season 2, overcoming Sham Eagles 6-3 at the Nawang Dorjay Stobdan (NDS) Stadium on Saturday. They are set to compete against the defending champions Maryul Spamo in the much-anticipated title showdown on Sunday.

In the men's category, the defending champions Kang Sings narrowly defeated Purig Warriors 2-0, while Changthang Shans achieved a decisive 3-0 victory over the Humas Warriors, setting the stage for an exciting final on Monday. The Royal Enfield Ice Hockey League Season 2 is being organized in collaboration with the UT Administration of Ladakh and the Ice Hockey Association of Ladakh.

Kang Sings edge out Purig Warriors

In a thrilling first men’s semifinal, defending champions Kang Sings showcased a strong performance to beat Purig Warriors 2-0. The match commenced with both teams fiercely competing, but strong defense resulted in a scoreless first period.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 26th minute when Tsering Angchok of Kang Sings scored a brilliant wrist shot, assisted by Stanzin Angchok. Nine minutes later, Stanzin Lotos extended the lead with another precise wrist shot, ending the second period 2-0 in favor of Kang Sings. Despite the Warriors' determined attempts in the final period, they were unable to capitalize. Kang Sings' defense held firm, securing a well-deserved 2-0 victory to reach the finals for the second consecutive season.

Changthang Shans exhibited an impressive performance in the second semifinal, defeating Humas Warriors 3-0 to qualify for the final for the second year running. The Shans took an early advantage when Konchok Namgyal scored in the third minute, assisted by Tsewang Dorjay. Their momentum continued as captain Chamba Tsetan netted another goal just two minutes later with a precise wrist shot, making it 2-0.

Although the Warriors created numerous chances, Shans’ goalkeeper Tsetan Namgyal was unbeatable, keeping the Warriors scoreless. The second period was tightly contested, with both teams fighting fiercely, but neither could score. In the final period, with time winding down, Chamba Tsetan struck again in the closing minutes to complete his brace and secure a 3-0 victory. With this win, Changthang Shans now advance to the finals, eager to claim their maiden title in a rematch of last year’s final against Kang Sings.

Changla Lamos in the final

The final semifinal of Day 8 in the tournament showcased an action-packed clash between Changla Lamos and Sham Eagles. The Eagles took an early lead when Lobzang Palmo scored just 35 seconds into the match.

Changla Lamos quickly equalized, thanks to captain Tsewang Chuskit’s goal just one minute later. Rigzen Angmo restored the Eagles' lead in the 6th minute, but Changla Lamos responded again with a goal from Disket Angmo in the 7th minute, ending the first period at 2-2. Building on their momentum, the Lamos dominated the second period with an impressive offensive display.

Captain Tsewang Chuskit completed her double in the 30th minute, granting her team a 3-2 lead. Shortly after, Padma Chuskit and Tsewang Chuskit added two more goals in the 32nd and 34th minutes, respectively, taking the score to 5-2.

Tsewang then completed her hat-trick, solidifying a commanding lead by the end of the second period. Despite a determined effort by Sham Eagles, who managed to score through Tashi Dolker early in the final period, they were unable to overcome the Lamos’ robust defense. Padma Chuskit scored her second goal in the dying moments to finalize a 6-3 victory for Changla Lamos and secure a spot in the eagerly awaited women’s final.
