Leh, Jan 8 (NationPress) Tsewang Chuskit’s remarkable five-goal performance powered Changla Lamos to a resounding 6-0 win against Humas Queens on the fifth day of the tournament, granting them a slot in the semifinals of the women's category in the Ice Hockey League Season 2 on Wednesday.
In the men’s category, Purig Warriors maintained their strong form, achieving a 4-2 victory over Zangskar Chadar Tamers for their second win of the season. United Nubra and Chiktan Royals battled to a fierce 2-2 draw. The day concluded with another thrilling draw as the defending champions Kang Sings and Humas Warriors ended their match in a 2-2 tie.
The Royal Enfield Ice Hockey League Season 2 is being hosted in collaboration with the UT Administration of Ladakh and the Ice Hockey Association of Ladakh at the Nawang Dorjay Stobdan (NDS) Stadium, Leh.
The day's events kicked off with an intense clash between United Nubra and Shakar Chiktan Royals, both teams eager to secure their first win of the season. The opening period was marked by a cautious approach from both sides, resulting in a goalless first 20 minutes.
Nubra’s persistence bore fruit early in the second period when Tamim Rashid unleashed a wrist shot into the net, granting his team a 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute. Shakar Chiktan Royals quickly retaliated, with Altaf Hussain equalizing in the 25th minute and skipper Shabir Shah scoring in the 34th minute to give the Royals a 2-1 lead heading into the final period.
United Nubra displayed resilience, with Murtaza Ali scoring a stunning snapshot in the 43rd minute, leveling the score at 2-2. Despite opportunities for both teams in the closing moments, unforced errors and tight defense kept the score unchanged.
The referee issued penalties to both teams for foul play, setting the stage for a nail-biting finish. While both teams remained winless with a 2-2 draw, their determination and grit provided an exhilarating match for the fans.
The second match of Day 5 featured an exciting Kargil showdown as the Purig Warriors secured an impressive 4-2 win against Zangskar Chadar Tamers. The Warriors set the pace early, with Kunchuk Thapa scoring a brilliant wrist shot just six minutes into the game.
Four minutes later, Nadeem Sarwar doubled the lead to 2-0. Tharpa struck again in the final moments of the first period, completing his double and sending the Warriors into the break with a commanding 3-0 lead. The second period saw a spirited response from the Tamers, with Stanzin Lakpa narrowing the gap to 3-1 in the 32nd minute.
Despite their efforts, the Tamers couldn’t close the gap before the period ended. The final period brought more high-octane action, with Nawaz Ali scoring early in the 44th minute to put the Warriors ahead 4-1.
The Tamers responded immediately through Stangzin Wangbo’s snapshot in the very next minute, but the deficit proved too great to overcome. Despite a spirited comeback attempt, the Tamers fell short, and Purig Warriors celebrated a well-deserved 4-2 victory, marking their second win of the season.

The standout player was Tsewang Chuskit, whose phenomenal five goals stole the spotlight. The Lamos began strong, with Chuskit netting goals in the 6th and 15th minutes, finishing the first period with a 2-0 lead. The second period witnessed relentless pressure from the Lamos, as Tsewang Yagdol scored in the 29th minute, followed by two additional goals from Chuskit, extending the lead to 5-0.
Entering the final period with a commanding lead, the Lamos shifted to a defensive strategy, ensuring the Queens remained scoreless. Chuskit capped her performance with a final goal, sealing the game at 6-0. With this dominant display, Changla Lamos claimed the top position in group B and secured a spot in the semifinals, which will take place on Saturday (Jan 11).
In a thrilling matchup, the defending champions Kang Sings managed to secure a 2-2 draw against a determined Humas Warriors team. The match began quickly with Tsering Angchuk of Kangs scoring in the 5th minute with a superb wrist shot assisted by Stanzin Angchok.
The Warriors, undeterred by the early goal, equalized in the 10th minute when Issa Mohd, assisted by Ghulam Nabi, found the net, bringing the score to 1-1 by the end of the first period. The second period saw a more cautious approach from both teams, resulting in a goalless period and the scoreboard remaining at 1-1.
The final period brought excitement as the Warriors’ skipper Waseem Bilal scored in the 46th minute, giving his team the lead. Just as the Warriors seemed poised for victory, Kang Sings’ Stanzin Lotos delivered a crucial equalizer, ensuring the match ended in a thrilling 2-2 draw.
The finals for the women’s category are set for January 12, followed by the men’s championship final on January 13.
