New Delhi, Oct 24 (NationPress) The India A men’s and women’s hockey teams concluded their respective international exposure tours in China on a high note, demonstrating impressive performances and acquiring invaluable experience against formidable local competitors.

The India A men’s team engaged in a four-match series against Gansu Club from October 12 to 18 in Changzhou City, Jiangsu Province, achieving remarkable victories in every game.

The men’s team started the series with a commanding 7-0 win, thanks to contributions from Varun Kumar and Selvam Karthi, who each converted a penalty corner, while Uttam Singh and Venkatesh Dhananjay Kenche scored field goals. Notably, Angad Bir Singh shone with a hat-trick.

In the second match, India A narrowly triumphed over Gansu 2-1, with Selvam Karthi and Aditya Arjun Lalage each netting a goal.

Continuing their outstanding performance, the visitors claimed an 8-0 victory in the third match, highlighted by Poovanna Chandura Boby converting a penalty corner. Aditya Arjun Lalage, Maninder Singh, Selvam Karthi, and Venkatesh Dhananjay Kenche all contributed field goals. Additionally, Captain Sanjay added to the tally with a penalty corner goal, while Mohammed Raheel Mouseen contributed two goals to complete a dominant showing.

The series concluded with another high-scoring affair, as India A defeated Gansu 8-3 in the final match. Rajkumar Pal, Uttam Singh, and Venkatesh Dhananjay Kenche each netted a field goal, while Amandeep Lakra converted a penalty corner. Aditya Arjun Lalage scored two field goals, and captain Sanjay, who consistently excelled with his drag flicks throughout the tour, converted two penalty corners to ensure a clean sweep for the visitors.

Aditya Arjun Lalage emerged as the top scorer for the India A men’s team, netting four goals across the matches, closely followed by captain Sanjay, Selvam Karthi, Venkatesh Dhananjay Kenche, and Angad Bir Singh, who each scored three goals throughout the series.

On the other hand, the India A women’s team participated in a five-match series against Liaoning from October 13 to 21 at the Liaoning Sports Centre in Dalian. The youthful squad displayed remarkable resilience during the tour, concluding with four draws and one loss.

In their opening match, India A held Liaoning to a 1-1 stalemate, with Albela Rani Toppo scoring the goal. The second game saw the team suffer a 1-3 defeat, despite a valiant effort from Manisha Chauhan who scored a goal.

The women’s team rebounded with consecutive draws - 1-1 in the third match where Manisha Chauhan scored again, and 2-2 in the fourth, with Baljeet Kaur and Manisha Chauhan each finding the net once.

In the fifth and final contest, both teams engaged in an exhilarating 3-3 draw, with goals from Kajal Sadashiv Atpadkar, Pooja Yadav, and Deepika Soreng ensuring that the India A Women’s Hockey Team concluded the series positively.
