New Delhi, Nov 28 (NationPress) India is set to host Sri Lanka for a thrilling five-match women’s T20I series scheduled from December 21 to 30. The opening two matches will take place in Visakhapatnam, followed by the remaining games in Thiruvananthapuram, as confirmed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday.
BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia announced that the first two T20Is are slated for December 21 and 23 at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. The subsequent three matches will unfold on December 26, 28, and 30 at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram.
This announcement follows the postponement of Bangladesh’s planned tour to India earlier this month due to political tensions, which also led to the rescheduling of India's men's tour to Bangladesh to September 2026.
Visakhapatnam previously hosted India’s league matches against South Africa and Australia during the 2025 Women's ODI World Cup and served as the venue for the team’s ten-day pre-tournament camp. In contrast, Thiruvananthapuram will be welcoming women’s international matches for the first time, having previously hosted men's T20Is, ODIs, youth ODIs, and Tests.
This series against Sri Lanka marks India’s first international engagement following their historic victory in the Women’s ODI World Cup held in Navi Mumbai earlier this month. It also represents a significant milestone in India’s preparations for the upcoming 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, taking place in England from June 12 to July 5.
Following the T20I series, the fourth edition of the Women's Premier League (WPL) is scheduled from January 9 to February 5, 2026 in Navi Mumbai and Vadodara, before India embarks on a multi-format tour of Australia from February 15 to March 6.
