Cricket South Africa (CSA) on Thursday, 6 August confirmed the addition of a three-match T20I series to the India women's cricket team's multi-format tour of South Africa in December 2026, expanding the itinerary to cover all three formats. The move is explicitly aimed at preparing the Proteas Women for the inaugural ICC Women's Champions Trophy, scheduled in Sri Lanka in February 2027.

Revised Tour Schedule at a Glance

The tour now runs from 9 to 30 December 2026. It opens with a one-off Test match at St George's Park, Gqeberha from 9 to 12 December, followed by a three-match ICC Women's Championship (IWC) ODI series across Paarl (16 December), Cape Town (19 December), and Bloemfontein (22 December).

The newly added T20I leg closes the tour: the first match, a Boxing Day fixture, takes place on 26 December at Willowmoore Park in Benoni, with the final two T20Is both at the NWC Oval in Potchefstroom on 29 and 30 December.

This is not the first time India have toured South Africa for T20I cricket in the current cycle. Earlier in April 2026, the Indian women's team played a five-match T20I series in South Africa as part of their preparation for the Women's T20 World Cup — and lost it 4-1. The December series will therefore carry added competitive weight for both sides, with India seeking a reversal and South Africa looking to consolidate home dominance in the shortest format.
