Key Takeaways
Johannesburg, Jan 20 (NationPress) Cricket South Africa (CSA) announced on Tuesday that they will welcome the world champions India for a series of five T20I matches, set to unfold in Durban, Johannesburg, and Benoni from April 17 to April 27.
The T20I series kicks off with two games at Kingsmead Stadium on April 17 and 19. Following that, the action will transition to Wanderers Stadium for matches on April 22 and 25. The series will wrap up with the fifth and final T20I at Willowmoore Park in Benoni on April 27.
This series marks the Proteas Women’s final official engagement prior to the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, commencing on June 12 in England. In the global tournament, South Africa finds itself in Group 1 alongside Australia, Pakistan, India, and two qualifying teams.
"Competing against a high-caliber team like India just before a World Cup is exactly what the Proteas Women need at this juncture in their preparation. It presents them with a chance to gauge their capabilities against a formidable opponent, refine their strategies, and ensure they can execute their plans under pressure. This series will be pivotal in enhancing the team’s readiness ahead of the T20 World Cup," remarked Enoch Nkwe, CSA’s Director of National Teams and High Performance.
This will also be the inaugural international clash between the two teams since India’s 52-run triumph over the Laura Wolvaardt-led squad in the ODI World Cup final in November 2025. Harmanpreet Kaur and her team made history by securing their first-ever ICC trophy, concluding years of anticipation.
