Kuala Lumpur, Jan 26 (NationPress) Left-arm spinner Vaishnavi Sharma showcased her skills by taking three wickets in a brilliant spell, while G Trisha contributed a fantastic 40 runs as India maintained their unbeaten streak to secure a place in the semi-finals of the 2025 ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup with an impressive eight-wicket victory over Bangladesh at the Bayuemas Oval on Sunday.

Although rain in Kuala Lumpur threatened to disrupt the match, following the abandonment of the Sri Lanka-Scotland game, the weather cleared up, allowing the full match to proceed for India and Bangladesh.

Opting for Bangladesh to bat first, the defending champions India managed to restrict their opponents to just 64/8 in 20 overs, with Vaishnavi taking an impactful 3-15. Both Trisha, Shabnam Shakil, and Joshitha VJ contributed with one wicket each. For Bangladesh, only captain Sumaiya Akter (21 not out) and Jannatul Maoua (14) reached double figures.
