New Delhi, Dec 19 (NationPress) With under two months to go until the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, the BCCI selection committee, led by Ajit Agarkar, is scheduled to convene at its headquarters in Mumbai on Saturday to finalize the Indian squad for this prestigious tournament.
In this meeting, the selection committee will also unveil the squad for next month’s white-ball series against New Zealand, which consists of three ODIs and five T20Is.
Currently, Team India is engaged in a five-match T20I series against South Africa at home, with the concluding match set to occur in Ahmedabad on Friday.
The BCCI announced on Friday, "The Senior Men’s Selection Committee will convene at the BCCI Headquarters in Mumbai on Saturday to select India’s team for the T20I series against New Zealand and the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. This will be followed by a press conference featuring captain Suryakumar Yadav and selection committee chair Ajit Agarkar."
Prior to the T20 World Cup, which begins in February, India will host New Zealand for a white-ball series from January 11 to 31, consisting of three ODIs and five T20Is.
The 10th edition of the global event will showcase 20 teams over 29 days of intense cricket across eight venues in India and Sri Lanka, starting on February 7.
The defending champions, India, are placed in Group A alongside the USA, Namibia, the Netherlands, and previous winners Pakistan.
As a co-host with Sri Lanka, India will compete in group matches at four venues: Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium, Colombo’s R Premadasa Stadium, and Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.
India will kick off its tournament against the USA in Mumbai, aiming to be the first team to successfully defend the Men’s T20 World Cup title.
