India stormed through the league stage of the team event at the Pickleball World Cup 2026 in Da Nang, Vietnam, remaining unbeaten after sweeping all three matches on Day 1 against Antigua and Barbuda, Israel, and the Czech Republic. The contingent has also accumulated 37 medals — including 6 golds, 16 silvers, and 15 bronze — placing India fourth on the overall medal tally.

League Stage Dominance

The Indian pro squad, featuring Harsh Mehta, Arjun Singh, Anish Froilan, Aman Patel, Pearl Amalsadiwala, Naomi Amalsadiwala, Aaliya Ebrahim, and Mihika Yadav, produced commanding performances across all six match formats per tie — women's doubles, men's doubles, mixed doubles 1, mixed doubles 2, women's singles, and men's singles.

India defeated Antigua and Barbuda and Israel by identical 6-0 scorelines before edging out the Czech Republic 5-1 in the final league match. The pro team will next face Portugal in the round of 32 on Friday.

Senior Squad Also Advances

The India Senior squad, led by Indian Pickleball Association (IPA) President Suryaveer Singh, also had a strong Day 1, defeating Germany and Nepal 4-0 each to secure a berth in the round of 32. 'Extremely proud of all the individual performances until today and the spirit that the contingent has brought into the team event. We are currently in 4th place on the medal tally, and we are confident that we will move a few places if this momentum continues,' Suryaveer said.

What the Captain Said

India captain Harsh Mehta struck an upbeat tone after the league stage. 'The team morale is very high; we have started the tournament with positive energy and great results. Team members are all playing well, which is most important and hence the result. We are preparing mentally for eliminations tomorrow,' he said.

Aalap Sharma, treasurer of the Indian Pickleball Association, described the achievement as a 'testament' to the athletes' commitment. 'We are delighted to see our athletes embodying this spirit, performing with resilience, passion, and determination, and achieving victories that make the nation proud,' Sharma said, also acknowledging sponsors Electrorush, Picklebay, Cosmic Birla Group, and Lucknow Leopards.
