Spain, Feb 4 (NationPress) India launched its journey at the BOXAM Elite International 2026 with remarkable vigor, demonstrating a series of stellar performances during the inaugural day of this esteemed competition, which features 214 boxers from 21 nations.

Leading the charge for India were the champions of the World Boxing Cup Finals, Hitesh Gulia (70kg) and Preeti (54kg), both achieving resounding victories as India dominated multiple weight categories.

In the elite men’s 70kg contest, Hitesh exhibited exceptional skills, overpowering Finn Bos from the Netherlands with a decisive 5:0 win. His calm demeanor, accuracy, and tactical prowess allowed him to command the match from start to finish. Earlier, Preeti showcased her strength in the elite women’s 54kg category, securing a 5:0 victory over Kazakhstan’s Aliaskar Symbat, combining sharp offensive moves with disciplined defense to decisively outclass her opponent.

The Indian women's squad continued to shine with Prachi (57kg), Priya (60kg), and Kajal (65kg) all moving forward confidently. Prachi and Priya both recorded identical 5:0 victories against Vanesa Morell Ramirez of Spain and Alessia Mansuetto from Canada, while Kajal managed a close win against Kazakhstan’s Assem Tanatar with a score of 4:1.

India's male boxers also delivered strong performances, exerting pressure with commanding wins. Sachin (60kg) comfortably defeated Spain’s Brandon Alejandro 5:0, while Mohammed Hussam Uddin (60kg) narrowly triumphed over Denmark’s Matias Mehmet Buyukdemir with a score of 4:1. Abhinash Jamwal (65kg) achieved a clean 5:0 victory against Denmark’s Qalid Osman, and Deepak (70kg) won 4:1 against Belgium’s Hornel Ayitevi. Akash (75kg) and Ankush (80kg) also progressed with 4:1 victories, although Aditya Pratap Yadav (65kg) faced elimination after a challenging match against England’s Joe Turner.
