Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Sydney, Feb 9 (NationPress) The Indian Women's cricket team has arrived in Australia for a multi-format series that is set to kick off on February 15. This tour will feature three T20 matches, three One-Day Internationals, and a groundbreaking one-off Test. Harmanpreet Kaur will captain the team across all formats, with Smriti Mandhana serving as vice-captain.
In a video shared by the BCCI Women on Monday, the players expressed their enthusiasm for the upcoming tour. Top-order player Smriti reflected on the celebrations following the RCB's second WPL title and shared her feelings about returning to national responsibilities.
"It has been quite hectic, but it’s all been worthwhile. We had tremendous fun, but now it’s back to national duty," she stated in a video posted by the BCCI on X.
India's first T20I will take place against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground on February 15, followed by the second T20I at Manuka Oval in Canberra on February 19, and the series will culminate at the Adelaide Oval on February 21.
This T20I series is vital preparation for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, set for June.
Following the T20 matches, the focus will transition to the ODI series, commencing on February 24 at Allan Border Field in Brisbane. The teams will then head to Bellerive Oval in Hobart for the second and third ODIs, slated for February 27 and March 1 respectively.
This series marks the first ODI clash between these two teams since India achieved a five-wicket victory over Australia in the Women's World Cup 2025 semi-final last October. Additionally, this will be the final series for the legendary Alyssa Healy, who has announced her retirement from all formats following the India series.
The tour will conclude with the esteemed one-off Test match, a four-day event scheduled from March 6 to March 9 at Perth Stadium.
