Chennai, Jan 11 (NationPress) Indian athletes showcased remarkable talent as the IRONMAN group’s 5i50 Triathlon kicked off with great excitement on Sunday morning. This event marked the city’s inaugural Olympic Distance Triathlon alongside the DuYoska Duathlon.
The significant endurance events attracted 650 participants from all categories, including international competitors from six different countries, resulting in an exhilarating race across various divisions.
Due to adverse water conditions, the swimming segment of the 5i50 Triathlon Chennai was cancelled for the safety of the athletes. The race was held in a modified format consisting of a 5 km run, followed by a 40 km cycling segment, and concluding with another 10 km run, ensuring a challenging yet safe endurance competition.
In the Open Men’s category, Adarsh MS crossed the finish line first with an impressive time of 2:05:14, while Arthi Nainar led the Open Women’s category, finishing in 2:55:23. In the relay category, SOL Fitness took the victory at 2:21:36, followed by Boss of Tri at 2:26:13, and 5121 Strivers at 2:39:47. Indian athletes dominated the podium across various categories, demonstrating the depth and potential of triathlon talent in the nation.

In addition to the 5i50 Triathlon Chennai, the DuYoska Duathlon introduced the prestigious World Classic Duathlon Series to India, adding a global dimension to the Chennai endurance weekend with several race categories tailored for athletes of all levels and ages.
The event featured a Sprint Duathlon with a 5 km run, 20 km cycle, and 2.5 km run, as well as a Standard Duathlon with a 10 km run, 40 km cycling, and 5 km run. In the Sprint Duathlon, Logidhas Rajasekaran emerged as the men’s champion with a time of 1:25:56, while Anee Verma claimed victory in the women’s race with a time of 1:35:57. In the Standard Duathlon, Sapan Panchal took first place in the men’s category with a time of 2:06:05, and Mohanadevi K won the women’s category, finishing in 3:19:26.
